On April 1, 2026 (10 a.m - 2 p.m.) N.C. Cooperative Extension, Rutherford County center, in cooperation with NCDAC&S, will be hosting a Pesticide Disposal Assistance Program (PDAP) event at the Extension Office. 193 Callahan-Koon Rd, Spindale, NC (next to the Senior Center).
The Pesticide Disposal Assistance Program (PDAP) is a consumer services program in the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The PDAP, part of the Structural Pest Control and Pesticides Division, is a NON-REGULATORY program that provides cost-free assistance to farmers and homeowners. The goal of the Pesticide Disposal Assistance Program is to assist the citizens of North Carolina by managing and supervising the safe collection and lawful disposal of banned, out-dated, or unwanted pesticides.
The PDAP’s focus is to assist agricultural producers, farmers, and homeowners. Collecting from dealerships and retail pesticide sales would overburden the Program’s budget.
Materials Not Accepted: We cannot accept minibulk/IBC containers, unknown materials, pressurized cylinders (but pesticide aerosols are fine), or other non-pesticide items at the event.
If in doubt, contact us prior to collection day to discuss individual situations at (828) 287-6010 or send an email to Sam at skoconno@ncsu.edu.
