Was Your Garden Soil Contaminated by Persistent Herbicides in Compost?

— Written By

If you experienced residual herbicide presence in your compost, please fill out the US Composting Council’s Persistent Herbicide Incidence Reporting Form by Friday, July 3, 2020.

All reports submitted before this date will be included as part of their case for increased regulation of clopyralid, one of the persistent herbicides identified in compost. Clopyralid is coming up for review next month by the Environmental Protection Agency, and the US Composting Council will be presenting its case to the EPA to limit the application to non-harvest crops and to prohibit retail sales.
