Entry Process & Rules Update: April 10, 2020
Creative Writing Projects (Short Story, Essay, or Poetry) must be digitally submitted no later than 11:59 p.m., June 1, 2020. There is no entry fee for any division.
2020 NC 4-H Horse Program Creative Writing Entry Form
Entries must be submitted to nc4hhorseprogram@ncsu.edu using “NC 4-H Creative Writing Entry” as your subject. Document files need to either be WORD or PDF. Only one copy of the file is needed. Please save your file as:
“Last Name, First Name, Age Division Contest” – Example “Stroud, Landon, Junior Poetry”
Artistic Expression Projects must be digitally submitted no later than 11:59 p.m., July 1, 2020. There is no entry fee for any division. The sewing contest is temporarily suspended this year due to the nature of evaluation, we feel that we evaluate this division well via virtual submission. Please be sure to consult the modified rules referenced below:

Craft Horse Contest – Exhibit your craft skills by creating horse items for your horse or yourself. This opportunity allows the youth to explore and develop economical alternatives for themselves and their horse.
Horse Drawing Contest – Broaden your horizons and use your creative talents to increase awareness of the horse project through drawing exhibitions.
Horse Painting Contest – Encourages members to apply their artistic talent within the horse project area by increasing their knowledge and skill in equine painting while learning the value of developing visual exhibits for a specific topic.
Horse Poster Contest – Provides a medium for youth to visually demonstrate their interest in horses. Enables youth to improve their skills in linking words and visuals to create an appealing display.
Horse Photography Contest – Encourages youth to gain self-confidence, while developing life-time photographic skills. While learning the value of organizing and developing visual exhibits, youth will increase their knowledge of photography as it relates to horses.
Horse Sewing Contest – CANCELED for 2020. Exhibit your sewing skills by creating horse items for your horse or yourself. This opportunity allows the youth to explore and develop economical alternatives for themselves and their horse. Horse Creative Writing Contests – Learn to become a more effective writer while exploring the wonderful world of horses.
